ATELIER MADOURA

The Madoura workshop was founded in 1938 in Vallauris.

Suzanne Douly-Ramié (1905-1974) was one of the instigators of the post-war ceramic revival. After her studies at the Beaux Arts in Lyon, she followed the artisanal teaching of the potter Jean-Baptiste Chapiello, a training which invited her to revisit the forms of traditional pottery. With her companion Georges Ramié, she opened the famous MADOURA workshop (MAISON DOULY RAMIÉ), in which illustrious artists published their pieces (Victor Brauner, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso...).
