ARBUS / ANDROUSOV

The sculptor Vadim Androusov, who was trained by Bourdelle at "La Grande Chaumière", collaborated with Andre Arbus on many projects. He embellished the neoclassical furniture of the decorator with figures translated into gilt bronze or plaster. In 1939, he adorned a beige lacquered wood enfilade with a keyhole with a Gorgon's head in patinated bronze. In 1942, the chest of drawers in celadon green lacquer, also existing in a blue-gray version, hosts a gilded bronze sun mask signed Androusov. This sacred alliance between the sculptor and the decorator will be very fertile throughout their careers.
